Howdy! I'm Rocky. Short for Rocket, long for Rock.

 

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I'm a geology student who does graphic design on the side, but I also enjoy designing characters and drawing silly cartoons. I also never left my middle school emo-punk phase... (blink-182 is my favorite band ever they rule!!!) Other bands I really love are: Waterparks, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, The All-American Rejects, All Time Low, and Sum 41. My passions include geology (my favorite topic is tectonics and general rockhounding, feel free to show me cool rocks or landforms you find!) and anything related to the atomic/space age including raygun gothic, googie architecture, and atompunk themes. I love this era's aesthetic and design choices, it's a major influence in my art style. I also like other vintage/retro styles, but 40s-50s era is my favorite! 

Digital art is my main medium for drawing, however I also love to screenprint. (sadly I do not have studio space for it at home...). I use both Clip Studio Paint and Procreate to draw, with either an iPad Pro or an 8 years old Wacom Bamboo tablet.

This is a website I created to share my original characters from my original story, "Nonconformity" (AKA Nonco!). The "Outkrop" is a fictional social media site in my story, and I designed this site to sort of mimic the feeling of a late 2000s/early 2010s social media site, as if it were my own OCs creating their pages.

"Nonconformity" began as nothing more than a study tool to help me remember class materials for my introduction geology courses, and making the memorization process more fun! (Well I already thought rocks are cool to begin with and always had but that's a story we'll save for another day). It started just with the Nonconformity band, Clay Jade and Grant, as the rock cycle + Juliet as the girl Clay has a crush on and created a band to impress, but over time it grew as I added more characters into the universe. At some point I thought it would be fun to actually write a whole story about them, connecting my passion for rocks and alt rock music together (That rocks!) and adding more depth to my OCs. 

My OCs mean everything to me, so PLEASE DO NOT STEAL/TAKE HEAVY INSPIRATION/RIP OFF MY CHARACTER DESIGNS/IDEAS/CONCEPTS, NOR STEAL/TRACE/REPOST MY ART WITHOUT PERMISSION I WILL GET YOU. I don't mind at all if you take inspiration from my works, I'd feel honored honestly! But there is a difference between ripping something off and being inspired but putting your own effort and spin into your creation. Please don't rely on my content to create your own content, if you like something I created then by all means please feel free to ask me about my art/design process, or ask what my inspirations are so you can understand them rather than just ripping off without knowing the history behind it! You don't need to be shy, I'm a super chill guy. (I'm also super cool with Nonconformity fan characters if you talk it out with me!)
